GMM     Jan 14th Show room Harley Davidson of New Orleans. While our meeting starts at 7:00 with a few surprises.

It will be preceded @ 5:00 by a press conference with Parish officials, various media outlets, and Our Partners, concerning  joint efforts to increase the enjoyment of Lundi Gras for our Members and the citizens of Jefferson Parish.

Shortly A joint Press release from Zeus and Hera will be distributed which will reveal your Grand Marshalls for our stroll on Lundi Gras.

Hint: large Indian.. French weapon.. 

This years Theme:

Concerning that its a secret; to be honest i don’t even know yet.. I do know it will not be a Recycled Holiday theme and our floats will not be supplied by Rizzuto and Company. After finding out  they could not supply us with the contracted floats agreed upon. Rizzuto and Company were already giving that Recycled Holiday theme to a parade in Metairie on the Friday before. Although we can not speak for the captain and board of that organisation. Myself and your board feel you should only pay for what you want, and quite honestly you deserve better.

So we consulted the ancient text;  the oldest known charter to the oldest parading Krewe the one that started this little thing we know as Jefferson Parish Mardi Gras. btw: Did you know that Ep can write in Greek.. So After deciphering and consulting with our crack team of Historians and Litigators;  It Says at all times The Look, Feel, Theme, and design of the Parade rest solely with the Krewe Captain, Imagine that!!  I could bore you with all the breach of contract, inability to cure said breach, Defamation suits our attorney is working on against the vendor, and so on and so on… but we will respond with the Immortal wisdom of Ms Sweet Brown  ” Ain’t nobody got time for that“  Silly vendor we the original Makers of Revelry along with the Ladies of Hera have a Show to put on.  Our Call, Our Krewes, Our Night, Our Lundi Gras, Got It!!!

Float update:

Details will be discussed at GMM, but here are the cliff notes:

New deal struck that gives us choices and opens up new additions to our ever evolving and growing Lundi Gras.

Floats will be delivered to the parking lot on Sunday evening around 7:00 pm for you guys to load early so you can fully enjoy the festivities we have planned at Lundi Fest.

King Henry the 56th promises a lively Kingship this year with a newly designed Kings float that carries costumed riders. To share the honor of reigning over Lundi Gras with your family and friends is sure to be something special All Hail King Henry the 56th Congrats and enjoy!!

Special All Hail!!!  to Rodney Barkalow and all of our friends @ Harley Davidson of New Orleans for giving us access to (3) Heritage sofftails to promote our crazy idea. (2) of them will be stationed permanently on display, and one will travel all over the parish throughout the campaign at our sponsors and friends businesses and events.   

We have worked out a deal with Accent Annex they will be on site at Clearview Shopping center on Sunday Evening and Monday all day with whatever they have left from their stores.  Something we are trying this year for the last minute guys and, the I don’t think i have enough stuff guys. If ya’ll like it we can make it a yearly thing>>>>

I want to share just one of the things that happen this year that pretty much sums up  the state of Metairie Mardi Gras.

At the beginning of this year the Men of Zeus and the Ladies of Hera issued a challenge of sorts to the other Krewes in Jefferson Parish… To get out of your Carnival Box.. Get Creative… Take some risk… Find a way to engage the people outside of our Krewes and show them how much fun it is by having an association with a Carnival Krewe.

We produced a Pigapalooza, a Slobsterfest, an All Hallows Insanity Ball, we have the Le Bal Masque coming up, Passport to Lundi Gras, and we are introducing a new tradition to Metairie called Lundi Fest, all of this was to spread awareness of who we are the stage setters for fun and Revelry!!

So you can imagine our dismay when the other Krewes offered this at a Captains meeting.

Lets change the route and take out the Bonnabel loop… What!!  Are you kidding me??   That is your solution to Metairies Carnival issues.  Are you Serious ???   That’s what you got, change the route?

Arthur Hardy reported 8 of the Carnival krewes approached the parish and was denied their request to change the route. An unnamed source said the Krewes had to all agree for that to happen…..

While we understand the other krewes have empty gaps in the parade route,  Bonnabel being one of them, and they wish to desert the families that enjoy that section of the route. We say That’s Ya’lls  Call to make, do what you want. We on the other hand would no sooner desert the Revelers on the most electric night of Metairie’s Mardi Gras.  A respite for Families that have enjoyed Bonnabel since the formation of the route in 1978, then we would have a float provider tell us the Look and Feel of Our Parade…. Got It!!!

So, Brothers if you hear some things now you know…” it is, what it is”…” Sour Grapes”.   But we’ll take them grapes squash em, grind em up, dump them all together in a vat, throw some sugar in it and turn it into wine.  Now it may taste a little bitter, but we all know wine gets sweeter as time passes,  So just drink it in moderation!!

We have our floats, our bands, a ball to attend, a Lundi Fest to enjoy, and a Harley Davidson to throw to a lucky reveler at our parades. And the task of finding people who get it, to join us in taking what we started back to its glory. I’m Sorry but besides our partners involved, and the like-minded Ladies of Hera we are alone in it!!!

We Makers of Revelry will set the stage for the masses to come.

What they will see is completely up to us.

Members have said the club just isn’t the same since there hasn’t been any HOOTERS around, So we have spent many a night thinking about the HOOTERS. We’ve  been on a search for the missing HOOTERS. Slobsterman looked at HOOTERS on the west bank, Lynn looked at HOOTERS in Baton Rouge, Jose looked at HOOTERS in Lake Charles, Billy looked at HOOTERS in Slidell, Doc looked at HOOTERS in New Orleans, Felix checked out HOOTERS at the Mall, Mike looked at HOOTERS in Chalmette, E.T. inspected the HOOTERS in Belle Chase, Carl looked at HOOTERS on the North Shore, Wayne even went all the way to Hot Springs Arkansas to look at HOOTERS. And although some say if you’ve seen one HOOTERS then you’ve seen them all ,  something  just didn’t seem right, So your fearless leader took it upon himself to inspect all the HOOTERS to find the best HOOTERS. So All Hail the Metairie  HOOTERS the fairest HOOTERS in the land. The Celebration to the Metairie HOOTERS with wings and beer at HOOTERS on Vets begins Aug 6th @ 7:00pm.  Remember guy’s only members in good standing get to enjoy HOOTERS, So as in life the sights, sounds, and taste of HOOTERS are restricted to the men who have paid for it!!!

Updates:

PigaPaLooZa, Slobsterfest, All Hallows Insanity ball, Christmas party, Tableau Masque Ball, Block party and Krewe day Krawl, 56th Annual Parade, After parade party! I know it’s an ambitious line up of Events the KOZ will put on this year. More Events = More Work!!!! SO with that said to ensure all of our undertakings live up to the SECOND TO NONE standards we have.  I  would like to welcome two new members on to the board of directors for the Krewe of Zeus.

Float GF’s Felix Borowiak: Felix will be working on entertainment @ all of our events>

Riding Lt Brian (Doc) Brogle: Doc will be working on Fund Raising and Sponsors for our events>

Both Felix and Doc were added with a unanimous vote @ our last board meeting.  I’m Sure all would agree that have spent time with these guys @ our events and meetings they will make a wonderful addition and a big help in moving our Krewe into the future.  Make sure you give them a big Hail Zeus for stepping up to lend their time and talents to our Krewe.

Slobsterfest is becoming an event to dwarf all others Two days, 14 bands, 50 food vendors, craft vendors, a child’s performance stage, and a kids zone play area we have officially expanded of the islands . We will be having a Chairmen selection and committee men assignments meeting @ the den on Wednesday night starting @ 6:00 open to any and all members that which to participate. Hope to see you there. For all who missed it for whatever reason, missed out you did! To all my Toga wearing, Cigar Smokin, Tequila shooting, Pig eating friends you well know  Cypress Country Club was a great setting for our event. Chicken on the Bone is one of the more entertaining bands i’ve seen in a long time. A special Hail Zeus goes out to the Pig Crew Rob,Paul,Jose, and Nathan thanks for reminding me why we do what we do. P.S Next time we need to bring something else besides beer to drink at 7:30 in the Mourning. Flexius ( keeper of the toga)  love the energy brother  you definitely own a dance floor when your on it.  Also want to thank Southern Eagle for the libations, Big Easy for the slaw and Mikie and Chris for lighting and setup. Will post photo’s in gallery  Lisa our staff photographer got plenty from the night. So with that said on to Slobsterfest tickets will be available at the next meeting so clear and mark your calendars. .
